Let me be sure this next part is clear to everyone. SUPER BRAWL IV IS NOT A LIVE EVENT - IT IS THE END OF THE SEASON MATCHES TO CROWN OUR GRAND CHAMPION FOR THE SEASON. I have been surprised by how many members believe this final event of the season is another live event. In the real world, I would love to run SUPER BRAWL like an EVO-style tournament......except with intelligent announcers. To set up a real place for all members to meet and play out these final matches. However, since we are all playing online from many different locations, that just isn't possible. Also, since it is impossible to get all the members in the league to meet online at the same time, SUPER BRAWL is therefore an elimination tournament spread out over several weeks to crown our Grand Champion of the SFCCL.
The Gold tournament will crown the 16th Grand Champion of the SFCCL. Only the fighters who qualify for the Gold tournament will have the opportunity to play for the title of Grand Champion. The fighters advancing to the Silver bracket will battle for the title of Silver Champion. The figthers advancing to the Bronze bracket will battle for the title of Bronze Champion. The Silver and Bronze champions are awarded for winning their bracket, but that is all. The Grand Champion is the clear winner of season 4. We've battle all season to create the current standings, and only the top 8 fighters in each division have now earned the right to play for that title. For any future seasons, the Silver and Bronze brackets are a way to measure your progress over a couple of seasons to monitor your success in the league in comparision to the other members.
In the past week, I have tried on 3 separate occasions to contact all the members currently set to advance to the end-of-season SUPER BRAWL IV tournament. This was in an attempt to be sure everyone understands that the regular season
is now ending and we are beginning the elimination tournament. Via email, PSN message, SFCCL blog, and Facebook, I have confirmed 18 of the 26 members are ready to play their SUPER BRAWL IV matches. There are four members who only have 1 figther advancing to SUPER BRAWL, thus 26 possible members instead of an even 24. The following members have not confirmed their participation as of today:
1. Benson29
2. DarkM92 (1)
3. Kenji1138
4. Killa_Kitana_
5. Killawaun
6. King-Sun
7. Sarge_84 (1)
8. StrongerRise
I have attemped to contact each of these members and explain the regular season is about to end. SUPER BRAWL IV is not a live event. The only matches they have to play are the the matches the brackets create. Win, and you advance. Lose, and your season is over. If these final 8 members do not confirm to me by Sunday night they will play their tournament matches, then I will automatically forfeit their matches Monday morning when I post the official SUPER BRAWL brackets.
I hope to record the final match for each bracket (Gold, Silver, & Bronze) and post on the SUPER BRAWL IV page. All matches will be the standard best 2 out of 3 five-round matches. The final match will be a best 3 out of 5 five-round battle.
There will also be time limits for each round. This, again, is to ensure we complete the tournament in a respectable amount of time. For SUPER BRAWL IV, the tournament will be complete by December 23, 2012. This will give all members who confirmed their participation in SUPER BRAWL ample time to play their matches. As the tournaments progresses with fewer and fewer members, I expect the matches to be played fairly quickly prior to any deadlines, especially in the Silver and Gold brackets. So, realistically, these tournaments may be over way before the final December 23rd deadline. Of course, if your next match is posted, members are free to play it. It is not necesary to wait for all matches in a specific round to be played to play the next round. Below are the deadlines for each round:
Octo Finals (Round 1): December 2 (14 days)
Quarter Finals: December 9 (21 days)
Semi Finals: December 16 (28 days)
Tournament Final: December 23 (35 days)
Please contact me if you have any problems contacting your opponents.
Good luck this final weekend for any matches played. I look forward to my next blog...the first for SUPER BRAWL IV!
